The Goddess Born In The Cosmos
From Out Of The Void...
In a great flash of light, and in an immeasurable power, material and gases were thrown out in all directions from its minute starting point. Along with these building blocks of the universe was born a force as great as the explosion itself . This powerful entity was life itself, and from the very beginning this female Goddess searched the rapidly expanding universe for worlds to grace with her magical touch.
The nameless one roamed the desolate cosmos for millennium after millennium. She watched as the gasses and debris from the great beginning slowly came together into balls of iron which began to gain in density exponentially. She smiled as one by one a trillion stars burst into life. Amazed, she observed these stars as they reached out and held within their grasp the material that swirled around them. Slowly, these formed either into rock worlds, or gas giants.
The nameless entity was a patient Goddess. For it took billions of years for these worlds to cool. Some circled too far away from their star, and became mere worlds of frozen ice. The ones that orbited too close to their stars burned like a fire in the heavens. Neither were of any use to her as a starting point for life.
In every quadrant of the great expanding universe where she traveled, the Goddess always found one or two worlds that were receptive to her magical and fertile touch. Everywhere she went, and in everything she touched, she left behind the great building blocks of life. But not even a force as great as this Goddess possessed could make these elements transform into a living entity. Only time and circumstances can perform that miracle. So she continued to roam the universe alone and unfulfilled.
Then one day she felt something stir in the cosmos. In between the fiery world of Muspelheim, and the frigid realm of Niflheim, sat the region that she knew as Ginnungagap. And where the red hot sparks of Muspelheim reached out and touched the icy region of Niflheim the water began to drip and flow.
The Goddess with no name trembled with excitement as she flew as fast as a star's light across the universe to be present at such a momentous occasion. The Goddess arrived just in time to witness one of the most beautiful events in all the universe. As she hovered over the pool of water, fed by a dripping icicle above, she smiled. For below her in the shallow pool she sensed a tiny movement in the flowing liquid. Life had begun in this most desolate of places !
