Logi : The Ruler Of Fire
The Truth Be Told
Eimyrja easily made the first two burst into flames, and only had to try twice to make the furthest ignite. Eysa, however, was new at this game, and despite many attempts could not make the second and third targets burn. The youngest daughter of Logi and Glöð flickered angrily at her inability to spread flames the way her older sister could with such accuracy and ease.
" I do not want to play this game anymore ! " Eysa suddenly shouted.
Eimyrja laughed at her little sister's stubborn attitude.
" How will you ever become a good Fire Giant if you cannot even direct sparks and embers where they are needed ? " she asked.
Eysa's flame diminished as she pouted.
" But the game is not fair ! You are much bigger than I, and you can project fire further ! " she told her older sister, as ashen tears began to float from her eyes.
Eimyrja rolled her eyes as she pointed to her sister's targets.
" Well,.... alright ! I will move your targets and make them only half as far as mine. " she replied reluctantly.
Eysa immediately perked up and her flame flickered brightly once more. After the flammable targets were in place the little Fire Giant concentrated intently on the first pile of dried debris before directing a spark in its direction. To her delight smoke spiraled out of the brush and soon caught fire. The second target took several tries, but once again Eysa was able to make it catch fire and burn. The third pile, despite being only half as far as Eimyrja's target was still beyond her reach. Eysa plopped herself down upon the ground and began to cry ashen tears once again.
" I don't like this game ! " she yelled stubbornly.
Eimyrja shook her head back and forth violently, causing a small fire storm to form around her.
" I wish that the humans had kept you on Midgard ! " Eimyrja replied angrily.
Eysa's flame turned yellow as she began to wail.
" You don't love me ! " she screamed back.
Aegir and Fornjotr had heard enough and came running out of the rock dwelling to see what exactly was causing such a ruckus. Fornjotr knelt down in front of Eimyrja, grabbed hold of her with one hand, and shook his finger angrily at her with the other. Aegir, meanwhile, tried to console the younger Fire Giant who was crying uncontrollably.
" What did you say to make your sister cry ?! " Fornjotr asked Eimyrja.
It was Eimyrja's turn to pout.
" She is just being a big baby ! " she explained angrily.
" Am not !! " Eysa quickly shot loudly back at her sister.
Eimyrja pointed at her younger sister and stomped her feet.
" If you yelled like that when the human was kidnapping you we would have caught him before they left the feast ! " she responded in a fit of fury.
Eysa placed her hands on her hips.
" Shows how much you know ! The being who took me was invisible ! " she replied harshly.
Aegir grabbed a hold of Eysa, being careful not to touch where she was flaming.
" Did you say the being who took you was invisible ?! " he exclaimed.
Eysa, who was a little afraid of the way her uncle had asked the question, answered timidly.
" I looked, but there was no one there. I did not see him until we reached Midgard, ....., but he disappeared there too ! " she told Aegir.
Fornjotr and Aegir exchanged glances.
" And what did this being look like ? " Aegir asked in a much kinder and gentler tone.
Eysa thought for a moment.
" Well,.... he was thin and tall,.... taller than the other Midgardians,.... and his skin had a slight blue color to it. " she explained.
Aegir could not hide the astonishment he felt over such a revelation.
" Did you notice anything else about him ? " he asked in a slightly agitated tone.
Eysa was not sure if her uncle was happy, or angry, with her, but she knew it was important to tell him everything.
" His eyes were narrow,... almost as if he were squinting at a bright light. " she explained.
Fornjotr let go of Eimyrja and looked over at Aegir as though he had been struck by an avalanche.
" Loki ! " he shouted angrily.
Aegir patted Eysa on the head and thanked her for telling them about her kidnapper. Eysa was so happy and proud that she burst into a raging fire, aimed at the last target, and ignited it on her first try. Eimyrja laughed as she watched the target burn.
" Nice shot little flame thrower ! " she told her little sister proudly.
As Eysa beamed over her sister's compliment , Aegir and Fornjotr were locked in deep discussion over what they had just learned. Fornjotr shook his head in disgust, while the Sea Jotun pounded his fist into his other hand.
" If the Gods find out that Loki planned this whole thing they will not hesitate to blame all of the Jotuns, and may once again attack our realm ! " Fornjotr told his son.
Aegir took in a long breath and released it slowly before responding.
" I will seek out Odin and try to explain what has happened ! " he told his father.
Fornjotr nodded his approval.
" Yes ! And I will find Logi and Glöð to try and stop their wild rampage before there is no turning back ! "
Before they left Fornjotr turned to Eimyrja and waggled his finger at her.
" Take good care of your sister Eimyrja. And NO more fighting ! " he told her sternly.
