Skadhi : Allegiances
The Killing Zone
Thor saw Byleist coming and threw his mighty hammer Mjollnir, with all his might. Suddenly a wind blew up so strong that it stopped the hammer in mid - flight. Thor was stunned when he saw that his hammer had made it only half way to the Jotun before falling to the ground. Sitting in a tree, above the battlefield, sat Hraesvelger in the form of an eagle, screeching in joy as he flapped his mighty wings. As the hammer returned to Thor he suddenly felt a hand on his shoulder ! As he turned to defend himself he saw a smiling Njord. " Throw it again my Aesir friend. " Njord said confidently. Thor, seething with anger, threw his hammer with all his might ! Hraesvelger flapped his wings even harder this time, but just as the great wind he produced was about to deflect Mjollnir again, Njord raised his hands in front of him, calmed the winds, and the hammer continued on its journey. Byleist would have been killed if Hrym had not grabbed a hold of him, and pushed him out of the way. The great hammer sliced through two trees and a rock formation before returning once again to its master' s hand.
Thrasir, Vidblindi, Vornir, Grimnir, and Hastigi all went after what they deemed as easy targets. They attacked without mercy Thrud, Magni, and Modi. Thrasir swung his mighty stone club with all his might at Magni' s head, but Magni was too quick and sidestepped the blow. He grabbed first the stone club breaking Thrasir's arm off as he twisted it away from him, and then Magni lifted the Jotun over his head, and threw him back down the mountainside with barely any effort. A little ways off Vidblindi and Vornir were swinging their swords at Modi as fast they could. Modi blocked all their strikes, but one glanced off of his shoulder cuttting him. When Modi saw the blood on his coat of mail his anger grew to the point where he lost all his senses. Modi retaliated swinging his sword with such fury that the two Jotuns were cut to ribbons in a matter of seconds. He then kept hacking at them as they lay dead upon the ground. Magni came up from behind his brother, and grabbed his sword arm stopping him.
" That is enough brother ! " Ease your anger, and let's get back into the fight. " Magni said with a look of determination on his face.
Grimnir, not the bravest of Jotuns, thought he had a chance at a quick kill when he saw what appeared to be a shield maiden standing alone in the killing zone. He was very, very, mistaken. His first two mighty blows were blocked with great precision by her golden shield. The Jotun then decided to overpower her by running right through her. Thrud spun as she knelt, and with her sharp sword cut both of his legs off at the knees. The Jotun landed with a loud thud on the hard ground a short distance beyond her. As he rolled over to look at his opponent she was already standing over him. " Go ahead and kill me you little bitch ! " The Jotun screamed in anger and pain. " Thank You ! I think I will ! She replied calmly, as she took off his head with one swipe of her sword. Hastigi, who was waiting to get into the fight, thought better of it, and moved off to another part of the battle looking for an easier opponent.
Logi and Freyja were playing what had almost become a game further away from the great hall. Logi kept throwing larger and larger fireballs at Freyja. Freyja in turn would send a wall of water out and extinguish them before they could reach her. This went on for a short while until Freyja had had enough of his nonsense. She sent out a great shower of water completely drenching the fire starting Jotun. The Jotun laughed and shouted " Being wet will not hamper my ability to make fire, Vanir witch ! " Freyja smiled and conjured up the great north wind. " No, but I am sure that ice will stop you ! " The Jotun was frozen solid in a matter of seconds. Freyja sighed a little sigh, and then went over to help her brother who seemed to be having some difficulties in his battle with Hrym. She thought to herself : " He should never have traded his magic sword for a marriage vow ! "
Skadhi and Ullr had been firing arrows effectively since the battle began, which was infuriating Hyrrokkin. Just as Skadhi unleashed her final arrow, Hyrrokkin rode straight towards the Mountain Goddess. As Swift Runner and his pack ran across to intercept the angry Giantess, and protect Skadhi, Ullr spotted them. Seeing the danger, he shot his last arrow at Hyrrokkin, but it only grazed her shoulder as she bobbed up and down on her great wolf. Hyrrokkin jumped off of her wolf, and grabbed with her bare hands two of the wolves before her, and crushed them. She threw them on the ground, and then threatened the other wolves, including Swift Runner. As she was about to grab the lead wolf, the great wolf - beast known as " Death ", jumped in front of her, and bit at her hand with its saliva dripping teeth. It then stood there between the wolves, and its master ,growling at her menacingly. " Death " did not mind her killing other species, but it would not allow her to kill its kind !
Surprised, but undaunted, Hyrrokkin pulled out her sword and yelled : " Alright old friend. I will not harm your little friends ! " She then ran at full speed at Skadhi. Skadhi and Hyrrokkin, like most of the others in the killing zone, had a type of tunnel vision, as they became locked in mortal combat. Hyrrokkin fought like an animal, and was surprised at just how strong Skadhi actually was, and how good she was with a sword. She always felt that flinging arrows at your enemies was a cowardly act, but this archer could fight as well ! Every one of Hyrrokkin's strokes was blocked skillfully, and was then answered by a counter stroke. After separating for a moment they both ran at each other, and swung with all of their mights. The clang of metal on metal sounded like a clap of thunder, and the force of the blows broke both blades off at the hilt . Hyrrokkin looked Skadhi directly in the eyes as she said angrily : " Well, now it is just your strength against mine ! " The two angry females moved slowly around each other in a slow circle before Skadhi lowered her head and put it right into Hyrrokkin's chest knocking them both to the ground. It was a wrestling match to the death ! Both appeared to be equal in strength, though Hyrrokkin, who was slightly bigger seemed to have the advantage. Then Hyrrokkin, with a great effort flipped Skadhi over, and placed her in a choke hold. Ullr tried to help but he was too busy trying to fend off the great wolf - beast. Skadhi' s face slowly turned redder and redder as she gasped for breath. Suddenly the ground began to shake beneath them. A force stronger than any Jotun or God shook through all of Thrymheim, and literally tore the combatants apart. The battle was no longer of any importance ! Surviving this cataclysm now took precedence !
