328. The Individuality Of My Faith
Your narrow opinion to me has no meaning,
I will never ask others for their understanding,
Nor is it important to meet anyone's expectations.
Your God does not speak to me in any shape or form,
He was postulated long ago by a people not my own,
I have no need of a savior, or anyone chosen as a saint,
No human, in my opinion, should be raised to Godhood.
I do not ask the Gods for their pity, or their forgiveness,
My only expectation is that my life be judged by my deeds,
Absolution is merely a final excuse for a life poorly spent,
And the threat of Hell will never be a part of my thinking.
I did not need to be pressured into my beliefs by my folk,
Nor do I see the need to belong to any religious organization,
By myself, but never alone, I honor the Gods of my ancestors,
For no other reason than I am compelled by my faith to do so.
