The man in custody has been identified as Anders Behring Breivik, a native Norwegian, though the police refused to confirm his identity. At Utoeya Island, dressed as a police officer, he calmly called everyone together before opening fire and allegedly killing 84 innocent victims. No motive was given at this time, though it may have been politically motivated.
Condolences have poured in from all the Scandinavian countries as well as the rest of the world. All countries have condemned such an attack and many have offered assistance. Norway has acknowledged their offers but declined assistance at this time.
Tonight I will be performing a special Ritual For The Innocent Victims, ( I usually hold it every first of the month), and I hope that others in the Asatru religion will hold similar Rites to honor these poor victims of a senseless crime. Their suffering is over, they are in the hands of the Gods and Goddesses now. May they go with Odin's wisdom, Freyja's love and Thor's protection !
