It is also written that Freydis Eiriksdottir also went to Vinland on an expedition with two merchant brothers, Helgi and Finnbogi. The brothers landed first and took over Leif's houses, (L'anse aux Meadows ? ), but Freydis said Leif had given her sole possession of them. Later she had the brothers and all their men killed allegedly for not exchanging ships with her. When her husband's men would not kill the women she took up an axe and finished the job herself ! She told the men not to speak a word about this or she would have them killed. She then returned to Greenland with as much cargo as she could carry. She lied to Leif, upon her return, about what had happened, but Leif later found out. Leif is quoted as saying, " I do not have the heart to punish my sister Freydis as she deserves. But I prophesy that her descendants will never prosper."
The Vinland Sagas still have one more player, a man named Thorfinn Karlsefni. He first lead a one ship expedition to Vinland, returned to Greenland, then went back with three ships to Vinland staying at place called, Helluland, Markland, Straumfjord and Hope. He traded peacefully with the Skraelings, but later fought with them. Karlsefni knew that even though this was a land of plenty they could never live in peace with the Skraelings. Shortly there after the settlement was abandoned only living on in the Saga's.
