I would not write an article if this was the only horrible thing I have seen this year. But a day ago in, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a man riddled a bus full of bullets because his girlfriend, who was on the bus, was scolded by a passenger for hitting her child. The girlfriend then made a phone call and the man came to the bus stop firing his gun. Incredibly no one was hurt ! A man in Ohio killed seven people before he himself was shot just a few days ago. And we all have of course heard of the massacre that happened in Norway which killed, I believe 76 people.
Our world seems to have entered a new phase of everyday violence. Where anyone, with a bit of anger, who feels that they have the right to take matters into their own hands, and kill, injure, or at the very least destroy the property of others, does just that ! Why have people become so angry over the past decade or so ? I understand that the world economy is in bad shape, and that people are hurting around the world, but that does not mean that we should all take up arms and attack each other. What happened to the days of passive resistance, and peaceful demonstrations ? I still to this day have so much respect for Ghandi, and Martin Luther King. They literally changed the world, and did it peacefully. Though both unfortunately in the end paid with their lives. When they tried peaceful demonstrations in Egypt, Libya, and more recently Syria, the demonstrators were met by tanks and a hail of bullets. As someone who believes firmly in ones own folk, I do not understand how any government could fire upon their own citizens who are peacefully protesting.
In Somalia the world has been trying to get in food to their starving people, but have been met with the Somali military, who shall we say holds things up. How could you deny your own people food !? But then again I guess the rich elite who run countries become so detached from their own people that they can't see, or don' t care to see, the suffering that goes on around them.
Even here in America our politicians have lost touch with their own citizens, and their morals too. This year the recent arguing and finger pointing about the debt, and debt ceiling, has shown all the American people that they have their own agendas, and they don't include the American people, just their friends in big business. And as far as morals go, two congressman have had to step down recently for having affairs. Their wives have my pity !
I' ll stop ranting now and get back to my original question: Is their any Humanity left in us humans ? To be honest I would have to say not much ! We have lost our pride, our compassion, our dignity, and our honor, over the past decade or so, and I see no indications that the pendulum will swing back in the other direction. We need to take our values and our morals back to an earlier time when people cared a least a little for each other, and hatred and violence were a rare occurence, and not the every day norm. I am almost glad that I will be gone in 10 or 15 years because I do not think that I want to see too much more of our humanity !
Go with Odin's wisdom, Freyja's love, and Thor's protection !
