We live in a world today that is infected with Immorality. Drugs, prostitution, crime, greed, incest, and many more horrible things have become woven into the very fabric of our everyday community life. When we hear on the news about a mother killing her baby, or someone going on a shooting rampage, we are no longer shocked and outraged. We have become numb to such things, and just shrug our shoulders and say, that is just the way it is, or that things will never change. We simply accept our immoral world and look the other way.
We even go further sometimes and forgive these animals who perform these hideous acts. I assure you the Gods and Goddesses will not forgive them for their acts of evil. Politicians and religious leaders especially amaze me with what they get away with. An apology, ( maybe), a few tears, and all is forgiven. That is until they abuse their power again ! And what do we do as concerned citizens ? We re-elect these idiots for another term ! I will not even go into the Catholic Church and how they have protected child molesters over the years.
Yes we live in a world where decent, hard working people, have to live side by side with individuals who sponge off society; people who think that welfare and handouts are a way of life, and not an emergency fund; and people who literally think they are owed a living. We live in a world that allows CEO's to lay off hundreds of hard working people, so their companies, and themselves, can line their pockets with millions in extra profits. While one man is living in his car, another is buying a second or third house. And the gap between the rich and the poor grows ever wider.
What can we do to change any of this ? Well, not much ! As small and insignificant individuals living in a huge corrupt world, all we can do is try our best to live a moral life and do whats right. This is so hard to do these days ! From the time that we are children we are taught that money, and things, are the most important things in life. I remember as a child watching toy commercials on T. V., which implied that you had to have this or that new toy, and then running to mom and dad and begging them to buy it for me. My parents were far from rich, so most of the time the answer was no. I see the same behavior in adults now a days that I saw in myself as a child. These mature adults stand in line, sometimes for hours, or overnight, for the latest computer game, toy, or phone. Two years ago there was a famous incident in the Wal - mart ,in Long Island, when an employee was trampled to death when they broke down the doors on Black Friday ! We have become so shallow that a sale item means more than a human life ! How pathetic is that ?!
My solution is a simple one. We need to go back to the past. We need to re - invent personal responsibility. We need to have the strength to do what is right. Those in leadership roles have to truly lead by example, and I mean lead all the people, not just special interest groups, with their high priced lobbyists. Those who have money need to treat those who have little with compassion. Companies need to treat their employees like family, instead of an expendable resource ! But most of all we need to treat human life, and each other, with greater respect and compassion.
Do we as a people, a nation, and a world population, have the strength to do these things? Looking around today I am not so sure. But if we all, on an individual basis, try to live a moral life, things will slowly change. If enough people care for others and do the right things, we can make a difference. My question to you is : " Are you strong enough to be the person that the Gods and Goddesses want us all to be ?!
Go with Odin's wisdom, Freyja's love and Thor's protection !
