Muspell' s sons hold high their sharpened swords flaming bright,
As sparks fly from their blades, lighting the dark Asgardian night.
Surtr leads his faithful folk, he has brought them here for a fight,
For the Fire Giant burns within with anger, and scorching might !
Death and destruction spreads quickly across the golden land,
The Jotun, Hraesvelgr, flaps his wings, and the fires are fanned.
Everything in his path burns by the Fire Giant' s evil hand,
While the last defenses of Asgard are desperately manned.
The great Gods fight valiantly, they die one by one,
First falls the All - Father, and then his mighty son.
Freyr, Tyr, then Heimdall, all gone before it is done,
And Ragnarok, that last desperate battle, is finally won.
The Aesir held, stood as firm as their solidly built wall,
However, strewn among the ruins, lay those who did fall.
While Vidar, Vali, Modi, and Magni are still standing tall,
Balder, the shining God, returns to what was once the golden hall.
