347 : The Current Of Discontent
Ours is a very troubled religion treading through stormy and dangerous waters,
The distance between us has grown greater than the oceans that separate our folk.
There has been created over the years a huge chasm far too wide for most to cross,
And the rift, of our own making that now exists, seems far too deep to climb above.
The underlying current of discontent is very strong, and many have been swept away,
While others, less fortunate, have been drowned in the great depths of anger and hatred.
A few try to ride the waves of better fortune hoping to reach a common distant shore,
But there is always the fear that the riptide of intolerance will pull them back out to sea.
We are not, as some may believe, one people with a history of intertwined commonality,
Those who call themselves Asatru speak in many languages, and live on distant shores.
There is a great need to put away our differences and build a bridge of hope between us,
But I often wonder who among us is strong enough to sink the first pylon of compromise.
