348. Journey's End
In the last rays of Sunna's glow, there is hope that my journey's done.
I gaze upon Mani's glowing face as he rises in the darkened sky,
And wonder if he is close enough to hear me release a bitter sigh.
The path I chose led through wilderness, and thick forests overgrown,
Slept in places that were isolated, and often felt abandoned and alone.
I have traveled to the highest mountains, and been led down to the sea,
Walked in beautiful flowered meadows, sat with Great Odin by the tree.
I Stood by Thor in a golden cart, as we rode through the heavens above,
And learned of a powerful seidr from Freyja, the Great Goddess of love.
Frigga was always there for me whenever I needed her motherly advice,
And Skadhi, that wonderful Mountain Goddess, to me she was so nice !
It was many years ago when I happily set off on this most faithful quest,
Now the seasons have slipped away, and the moment has come to rest.
I have become weary now, for time and distance have both conspired,
They have taken away my vigorous youth, and left me old and tired.
I have met many of our wonderful folk as I walked slowly along the way,
And I always regretted leaving them, although I knew I could not stay.
Within me I have no sense of joy, or sadness, as I round the final bend,
For I have no feelings left at all, now that my journey' s finally at an end.
