362. There Is No Forgiveness
Comfortable as you sit there in the pews, with your religious choice,
Forget all those who died through the many years, in Lord Jesus' name,
So many good Heathen peoples forever lost, to the Pope's unfair fame.
Block out the memory of the Inca culture wiped from the earth,
Destroyed in your God's name, and for the wealth of gold's worth,
Sing the verses loud so that you will erase all of your past wrongs,
With words of inspiration forget it all through your hymnal songs.
A chorus from the choir to drowned out the Native Americans who died,
Ring loudly your church bells for each of the Black Africans who cried,
Praise Charlemagne for the Pagans he killed in the name of your Holy king,
Wipe from your memories the many martyred Germanic peoples as you sing.
In song forgive the evil sins of King Olaf, whose deeds made him a saint,
Hide his horrible actions with your hymns, to cover this disgraceful taint ,
You can sing until the choir's hoarse, but all the past horrors will not dim,
For there is no forgiveness in the verses that make up a religious hymn .
