236. Ask And You Shall Not Receive
That the Gods can be very cruel, that they do not care.
They feel abandoned, like they missed out on their share,
The desperate turn to rituals, which sound more like a prayer.
The faithful ask, sometimes even beg, for the God's aid,
But only when their hope and confidence begins to fade.
They reach out to the Gods when they are alone and afraid,
However, the Gods favor is not to be bargained for in a trade.
Some turn from the Gods, use runes or magic as a last resort,
But these acts of desperation will almost always come up short,
And then the true reason for their problems begins to distort,
Instead of looking outward they should look inward for support.
The Gods are not cruel, and they are certainly never unkind,
And to the problems that plague us, they are in no way blind.
The great Gods gave to us an incredible intellectual mind,
And it is here, within ourselves, the solutions we will find.
