Along the rocky white peaks of the high Jotun mountain range,
The deep winter forest lies lonely, mostly dormant and bare,
For now the birds have all gone, and the bear sleeps in its lair.
Though the skies have become painted in many shades of grays,
And Mighty Sunna has lost her power to generate warming rays,
Nature shows us a glimpse of color, in a bleak world for all to see,
For among the bleached out landscape stands the evergreen tree.
When the mighty evergreen pine begins to feel the seasonal needs,
It begins to grow on its many branches the glorious life giving seeds,
The conifer tree does this in the form of a male and female pine cone,
The evergreen spreads its botanical ovule, so that it will not be alone.
Even as the coldest of the north winds begin to howl and blow,
The fir and the pine tree will still continue to produce and to grow,
Through the most frigid winter months, there will be forever seen,
Within an otherwise colorless landscape, stands the mighty evergreen.
