245. Svadi The Berserker
Because many of his subjects in their payments had become lax,
Most paid, but a few refused, and to the king turned their backs,
For those who would not pay, the warriors gave them a few whacks,
Striking each one of them down with the sharp edge of their axe.
The king 's warriors next came to the large farm of Svadi the Tall,
Unlike most of the farmers, Svadi the warrior, had a beautiful hall,
Svadi was a tough berserker, who was always ready for a brawl,
As the king's men attacked Svadi, he threw them through his wall,
And from Svadi, the berserker, the king received nothing at all.
Angry, King Aki sent out his army to kill Svadi at first light,
But Svadi was patiently waiting, with his kinsmen, for a fight,
Svadi, and his men, fought the king's army until the onset of night,
King Aki, and his remaining fighters, knew they could not sit tight,
So the king, with a few of his best warriors, rode off in full flight.
As quickly as he could ride, the cowardly King Aki fled,
But very close behind rode the berserkers, which Svadi led.
In the early morning, by a stream, that would soon run red,
Svadi fought with the king, who tried to surrender it is said,
The berserkers, however, did not stop till everyone was dead !
