Pump the bellows, and stoke the smithy' s fire,
Pound the raw steel into weapons for the buyer.
In the master's furnace, under coals burning bright,
Heat the shapeless metal until it glows almost white.
Turn the glowing hot metal by the hammer's own will,
Hammer it hard, over and over, against the solid anvil.
Slowly shape the sword, stretch the black metal,
Then cool down the blade in a water filled kettle.
Add the fuller, and sharpen the edge of the blade,
Admire your art, you are a master of your trade.
Attach the ornamental hilt and polish the sword,
Proudly present your work to your master and lord.
