312. The Mirror Does Not Lie !
What ever happened to that youthful man, the one I used to be ?
This face once reflected a fellow who was both healthy, fit and trim,
Now I am shown a wrinkled old man whose vision has begun to dim.
When I stare into the eyes of this image, it is clear what I am told,
The passing of time has taken its toll, and the child has grown old.
I grapple with the concept, try my very best to grasp that this is real,
It is hard to acknowledge, the image does not reflect the way I feel.
Although this barely recognizable likeness to me now looks very strange,
This reflection has become a stark reality that I can in no way change.
I am forced to accept that the image in the mirror cannot possibly be a lie,
And someday, maybe very soon, the end will come, and on that day I'll die.
