Those I left Behind
I had no choice, I left so very many good friends behind.
The loss has left deep scars, and a feeling quite hollow,
But where I was going, they could not possibly follow.
I came to a fork in the road, my religious path then veered,
Had no choice in the matter, I went where the Gods steered.
Slowly, over time, I was drawn farther and farther away,
While many years of close bonds, began to strain and fray.
Often times I think back, to those distant memories so fond,
Of my good friends with which I shared such a strong bond.
Recollections of those wonderful days will for me always last,
But I have no wish, and no great desire, to return to the past.
