33. Váli : The God Of Vengeance
To implant the seed, so vengeance could begin.
In the western halls the avenging son was born,
He wailed in anger when from the womb he was torn.
Váli he was named, a half - brother of Balder,
His purpose was to kill Hodr, in this he could not falter.
Unwashed and uncombed, and just one day old,
He met and killed Hodr, so the story is told.
Váli, great warrior and marksman, so bold in a fight,
You are living proof that vengeance is honor, a right !
Neither seas nor fire can harm you at all,
In the end, a new beginning in the land of Idavoll.
Before an altar of weapons I stand with great pride,
And thank you for avenging those who have wrongfully died.
In tribute to Great Váli I raise up my horn,
To the Prince of Vengeance who was magically born.
