Until three months ago I did not really like religious fiction very much. I have always felt that the Eddas and the Sagas are factual standards and should not be tampered with. Then in the beginning of January, 2011, while sitting in the lunch room at my job, I suddenly had what I like to call, "a brain download ". I did not think of an idea for a story, or even an outline for a story, but the entire story from start to finish ! I wound up only eating about half of my lunch so I could write it down. I despaired for days as to whether I should post the story on my blog or not. I am not a writer, I am a warehouse manager who simply loves our Gods and Goddesses, our religion and our folk. I decided that the Gods and Goddesses had given me the story, so they must want me to share it. So I posted it.
I usually do not check my blog hits, but I was curious what the reaction would be to this story entitled, " The Weary Traveler ", so I checked for several days. I was stunned. My hits almost doubled ! Though I was glad the reaction was positive, I was just glad it was over with. I posted that story on January 22, 2011.
I figured that that story was just an aberration and it would never happen again. Well, I was wrong ! In February another story was "downloaded" this one so long that I used my lunch break and a couple of hours at home to get it all written down. This story, like the first, came to me in vivid detail and complete. Once again I debated whether I should post it or not. A month later I am finally putting it up.
The Story, " Freyja's Journey", will be posted in two parts starting on March, 23, 2011. Whether it is good, bad, or mediocre is up to you to decide. I don't know why these stories keep popping into my head, pushing me into places I do not want to go, but they do so I guess I will just roll with it. I hope you like " Freyja's Journey ", but I also hope this is the last fictional story that comes to me !
Go with Odin's wisdom, Freyja's love and Thor's protection !
