The Spring Equinox is not just a time to rejoice about the re - birth of life, but a time to re - awaken feelings of determination, purpose, and re - assessment. It is a time, and a season, to work harder to grow into the person the Gods and Goddesses want us to be. A time to give instead of taking, work instead of resting, caring instead of indifference, and loving instead of hating. It is truly a time of change in all respects. It is a time to give an offering of ourselves to others and accept what they give us in return. It is to me the most wonderful time of the year !
I don't just honor one God, or even several Gods, during my Spring Equinox ritual. I honor all of the Gods and Goddesses because I feel they all have a hand in making our great world a terrific place to live. What I offer the Gods and Goddesses is not food, not drink, nor just words of praise, I offer them the gift of life. This is when I plant my flower seeds and my vegetable seeds indoors. I feel this is a wonderful way to honor Them because it is a gift that keeps giving throughout the entire growing season. Last year, the last of my flowers, ( on my sun porch), lasted until the beginning of December ! The vegetables can in turn be given as an offering to the Gods and Goddesses later in the year. I, however, have not had much luck with my vegetable seeds, but this is a new year with new hope.
I do give a special toast to Great Mother Earth, Jord, at this time of the year for all that She does for us. For no matter how we treat Her, ( and we need to do a much better job), She still shows Her love every year by allowing us to plant in Her rich soil to provide ourselves with sustenance and beauty. I really don't understand why people do not honor Her more often ! She is the only Deity that is physically with us at all times, and yet we ignore Her and treat Her so badly ! I always apologize to Her at this time of the year for all of our transgressions. I also hope for the day when there will be nothing to apologize for.
The Spring Equinox, a time of re- birth, joy, beauty, and hope. There is, in my opinion, no better time of the year. Let us honor our great Gods and Goddesses for this wonderful season and all that it brings. Honor Them by working within what our environment has to offer. Clean your neighborhood of trash, plant trees, flowers and vegetables, and then watch as your labors blossom into the beauty that Mother Earth has to offer. Hail to the Great Gods and Goddesses at this, the best time of year !
Go with Odin's wisdom, Freyja's love and Thor's protection !
