who can run over both the air and water.
When asked by a Vanir who it is flying overhead Gna answers : " I am not flying, although I travel, and move through the sky on Hofvarpnir whom Hamskerpir sired with Gardrofa. "
The 25th is also the day that I honor Ullr, the great ski archer. Ullr is one of those Gods who is hardly ever talked about, and yet there have been found several temples to him, and his name exists in place names in Scandinavia. He deserves to be remembered and I honor him on this day every month.
So be it with thee, Atli!
as toward Gunnar thou hast held
the oft-sworn oaths,
formerly taken -
by the southward verging sun,
and by Sigtý’s hill,
the secluded bed of rest,
and by Ullr’s ring.
In Lilla Ullevi ("little shrine of Ullr" ) north of Stockholm archaeologists excavated during 2007 the site of a religious worshiping ground for Ullr (from 500 to 800 AD). The well-preserved state of the shrine may be unique in Scandinavia: it was shaped like a platform with two "arms" of rocks having four erected poles in front of it where there was probably a wooden platform. Moreover, the archaeologists found 65 "amulet rings" in the area; rings are reported to have been used when people swore oaths.
At this temple many rings were found which seems to indicate that like the Goddess Var he was a Deity who you would go before to honor an oath.
