Nøkken : The Water Spirit
Sefa too began to feel something, though she did not know for certain what it was. All she knew was that when she was at, or near, the dammed up brook she was happy, and that the gentle sound of the rippling water on the pond's surface soothed her sorrow, and made her forget, at least for a little while, all the bad things that had happened. She still had Haki, and the farm, and for the first time in a very long while she had a sense of peace and contentment.
Every day Sefa could almost hear the pond calling to her to come down and visit. And each day she answered the desire that arose within her to be near the water. At first tears still welled up in her eyes as she remembered the pain and heartache the pond had caused in her life, but as time went by her sorrow was replaced by a feeling that was akin to companionship with the dammed up brook. And the one thing she was sure of, though she did not know why, was that the pond would not hurt her, the way it had others.
Then, on a very hot day, while Haki was playing in the brook below, Sefa was overcome by the heat and humidity. To relieve her discomfort Sefa removed her shoes, and stockings, and dangled her feet over the dam wall into the cooling water of the pond. Instantly her feet began to tingle as though a thousand cooling fingers were massaging them. As the feelings became more intense she slowly allowed her legs to sink deeper and deeper into the refreshing pool. As she did the touch of the water made her feel things she had not experienced in quite some time. Sefa closed her eyes, and moaned, as her body enjoyed the excitement, and she allowed her mind to fantasize.
The Nøkken watched the female as she sat down on the dam above him. By humming an ancient tune underwater he caused the pond to vibrate with his song, and when the female placed her body into his domain he shivered as if a cold wind had blown across it's surface. He could feel her within him and he knew that she felt his touch as well. For the first time the Nøkken knew what it felt like to be physically in love with a human.
Day after day that summer Sefa went down to the pond to relieve herself of the heat, and enjoy the release she experienced from the cooling water of the pond. Her son Haki did not understand why she had suddenly grown fond of being around the dammed up brook that had killed his grandfather and father, but he was glad that his mother did not cry nearly as often as she had before.
The Nøkken quickly became obsessed with the woman named Sefa. At first just seeing her shimmering face above him was enough. Then he was satisfied merely by the touch of her skin as she placed her body next to his. Soon, however, this was no longer enough to satisfy his lust for her, and his need grew stronger and stronger. Day and night he would sing to Sefa to make her come up to the dam to stay with him for awhile. The more times she came, however, the deeper the longing was after she left.
Over time Haki began to become concerned at how often his mother went to the pond. On some days she would visit the water two or three times. What he could not wrap his mind around was why she would go to the water so frequently that had killed her father and husband, when she rarely spent much time at their graves. Yes, his mother tended to the graves well, always planted flowers, and made sure that there were no weeds to speak of, but she never stayed more than a few minutes. By comparison, his mother almost seemed to be drawn to the water the way moths fly to the light of a porch lantern. She had been going to the pond so often lately in fact that she had been neglecting her chores, and the garden and the house were beginning to reflect her absence.
Then one night, when the moon was full, Haki heard his mother get out of bed and leave the house in the middle of the night. He watched from his window as she slowly walked up to the dam and stood gazing into the calm water. What happened next shocked Haki. His mother took off all of her clothes and dove into the pond ! He was about to run out and try and save her from drowning when he heard her giggling and splashing joyfully in the water. Haki decided that, although it was odd for her to act in such a way, he would leave her be and go back to bed. He could always ask her about it tomorrow.
The Nøkken smiled when he saw Sefa's image above him. He had never called to her so late in the night before, but the moon' s bright glow had aroused his senses, and he needed to be with her. As he watched her peering down at him, the woman he had come to love so did something quite unexpected. In fact it was an act that no human had ever done. The female disrobed and jumped into his watery domain.
As his fluid touch reached into places that he had never felt before, he experienced a heightened arousal that was new and exciting for him. And as his watery body folded itself around her fleshy exterior he could tell by her uncontrollable reactions that she loved him as much as he loved her !
