After consecrating the area with my Thor' s hammer, I set up the three statues and bracketed them in between two beautiful 12 inch tapered candles in crystal holders. I also placed on the altar a bracelet with viking designs engraved on it as a gift to her. I then poured some imported Irish mead as a libation, and then closed my eyes and meditated in silence calling to her. When I "felt" her presence I made a dedication speech and asked her to join me at this humble altar. After a few more words I got up to toast her. I Got up ! I had not realized that I had gotten down on one knee, and had never prostrated myself in front of any of the Gods before. I had always believed in standing and looking the Gods in the eyes, so to speak, when honoring them. I had knelt down before Freyja and it felt right !
I also gained a new perspective of Freyja. I had always seen her hovering over battlefields in her cat driven cart, or practising some form of seid. But now I see her as a beautiful wife and mother, ( I had practically forgotten about her children Hnoss and Gersemi ), who can reach out and touch you very deeply ! To bow to her was an honor and that honor made me see her in a totally new way. By opening myself up to her I believe she showed me a side of her I had not thought to see.
I have not changed the way I honor the other Gods, though I hope through meditation to find new perspectives on them too. I believe the better you see the Gods the closer you can get to them. My devotion to Freyja is absolutely stronger than it was before and I thank her for that with all my heart !
I guess when you are willing to show your true devotion to them, they in turn show us their true selves. It was a moving experience !
Go with Odin's wisdom, Freyja's love and Thor's protection !
