In Havamal Odin tells us :
Cattle die, kinsmen die,
One day you die yourself;
But the words of praise will not perish
When a man wins fair fame.
Cattle die, kinsmen die,
One day you die yourself;
I know one thing that never dies -
The dead man's reputation.
These men and women deserve our unending praise and honor because through their acts they earned, "fair fame." I am sure they are sitting in the halls of Valhalla because their," reputations", preceded them ! I often wonder would I have had the courage to stand up and be counted, as they did, to defend what I believe in. Someday I may have to and I hope that I can act with as much inner strength as they did.
I am going to start off the series discussing two of the Christian evildoers who persecuted our pagan ancestors. May the Gods curse their very souls. Then I will move onto the lesser known martyrs and finally to the better known ones. I will do my very best to bring their acts of bravery and defiance to light, but I am sure that I will not do them the justice they deserve. They need to be recognized and honored so I will do my best !
