When you are at home this is an easy thing to do. Lock your doors, put on some soft music or nature sounds, and allow yourself, through meditation, to go to that other place where peace and tranquility reside.
But at work, where there is usually the most stress, this can be much more difficult to accomplish. Generally all places of employment give some sort of lunch and rest breaks, ( by law they have to ), and this is the perfect opportunity to calm down your inner self and regain your mental strength. Take this time to find a quiet place, ( outside I find is best ), to find a little peace for your soul.
Meditation can be a very personal thing so my experience below should be used only as a general example. What you see or feel will be unique to you.
First you must relax, and at least temporarily put aside all the strife and clutter that has built up in your mind. Slow deep breaths
usually slow down your heart rate and relaxes you to the point where you can begin. Close your eyes and allow the dark void that is in your mind to engulf you. Become lost in it. Look into the distance for a faint light. Draw your mind to it, let it surround you. Let the light enter you and become a part of you. Feel safe and secure in the knowledge that this light is the essence of Odin's wisdom and power. Stay in this state for as long as you can maintain it. But be careful, time seems to lose importance when meditating and you may be there longer than you anticipated ! When you come back you should feel calm and clear of mind. Afterwards I, of course, always thank great Odin, for allowing me to embrace his calming wisdom.
So the next time you have one of those crazy days where nothing seems to be going your way, try a little meditation. Your mental health will thank you for it !
